Historic Preservation Consultant

Working with youth to develop an appreciation for historical buildings, sites, and properties is a key focus of CALFAP

Preservation

We preserve buildings, sites, and properties of historical or architectural importance, and promote knowledge of and an appreciation for the history of the State of California

Donations

We solicit and receive gifts, grants, subscriptions, bequests and any other funds or things of value in order to carry out our mission

Acquisition

We acquire buildings, sites, and properties of historical or architectural importance to ensure they are preserved and maintained for future
generations

Disposition

We receive, hold, sell, dispose of, invest of, invest or reinvest funds, securities or other properties as appropriate for achieving our mission

Expert Assistance

We assist other organizations to preserve the history and heritage of the state, including significant documents, artifacts, furnishings, buildings, sites and other properties

Identification

We encourage, assist, advise and participate in the identification, preservation and restoration of historic structures, buildings, districts and objects of significance

Collaboration

We collaborate with historians, historical preservationists, archaeologists, archivists, museologists, restorationists, and organizations in the preservation of historical properties

Participation

We facilitate and encourage youth and adult participation in historic preservation programs and activities

CURRENT PROJECTS

Gilroy HOt Springs outhouse

Gilroy Hot Springs

CALFAP is currently working to restore cabins and site at Gilroy Hot Springs, now part of the California State Parks system. This project is headed up by Tim Lantz, local preservationist and artisan builder who specializes in historic restoration, and utilizes volunteers, particularly youth and boy-scouts with an interest in historic preservation.
